🚀 Announcing Private Preview: Custom Domain Support for Inbound Email Addresses

Today, we’re excited to share a major milestone for Imitate Email—one that’s been one of the most requested capabilities from teams building, testing, and validating email‑powered features.

We’re launching a private preview of custom domain support for inbound email addresses!

This new feature lets you use your own domain name (or any subdomain) with Imitate Email to receive messages exactly as your users would—no more restricting your tests to system‑generated addresses.

✨ What’s New?

With custom domain support, you can now:

  • Bring your own domain (e.g., @example.com) or a dedicated subdomain (e.g., @test.example.com)
  • Use any user part you like (orders@, support@, whatever-you-need@)
  • Receive all incoming mail directly within your Imitate Email inboxes
  • Test workflows end‑to‑end using realistic email addresses that match your production patterns

This unlocks scenarios like:

  • Testing onboarding flows from addresses that match your actual domain
  • Validating automated routing logic
  • Generating domain‑specific email addresses dynamically during CI
  • Supporting complex multi‑tenant email patterns

If your application relies on inbound email in any way, this feature will make your development and QA cycles more accurate and more flexible.

🔧 How It Works

During the private preview, custom domain configuration isn’t available in the UI yet. We’re working closely with early adopters to set up domains manually—this ensures we capture real-world feedback before opening it broadly.

Once enabled, you’ll be able to point your domain’s MX records to Imitate Email’s infrastructure, and we’ll take care of the rest.

🧪 Why Private Preview?

Email infrastructure is tricky. Domains, SPF, MX records, and routing rules all need to work together seamlessly—and we want to make sure the experience is rock‑solid before rolling it out publicly. Private preview allows us to:

  • Validate the setup process with real customer configurations
  • Ensure inbound delivery is stable across different DNS providers
  • Fine‑tune the developer experience before exposing self‑serve options

Your feedback will directly shape how this feature works at launch.

🙋 Want to Try It?

We’d love to onboard a small group of teams who are ready to use custom domains with Imitate Email today

If you’re interested in joining the private preview, get in touch via the chat and we’ll help you get set up.
